Latin Name: Calendula officinalis
Calendula flowers are edible and the petals have been a substitute for saffron to colour butter, rice, desserts and egg dishes. It is know as poor man’s saffron. The flowers and leaves can be eaten fresh in salads, or added to liqueurs as a drying agent, or in our case used as an important ingredient in many of our teas!
Great for make infused oils for crafting uses, herbal salves, tinctures, etc. and is considered a great addition to soaps for delicate skin.
